A Visit to Pumpkin Creek Ski Club

It’s been a strange year for cross-country skiing in Mosswood territory.  The trails adjacent to our property, Birch Ski Trails, are not being groomed this year due to the ski club and the land owners being unable to reach a lease agreement.  We’re assured that this will be resolved for the 2018-19 season.  BUT… there is another great ski area, only 4 miles from Mosswood Cabin.  The Pumpkin Creek Ski Club is another lovely place to ‘strap’ on your skinny skis.  The club grooms 20 kilometres of intimate classic tracks that meander up and down the beautiful Snow Valley. IMG_1945IMG_1946.jpgA cute and cozy clubhouse is a great place to get set-up – to wax your skis if you’ve brought your own, or to rent a pair.  There are a wide variety of trails for a wide variety of x-country skill levels.  Blue Moon and The Stroll are great beginner trails, with very little elevation change, and Roger’s Pass and the Blue Moon Extensions are more difficult, with some great up and downhills.  Joy and I went out on a brisk -25C Saturday, and by virtue of being in a forest, in a valley, we were kept out of the wind.  I went out alone on Sunday, and skied Roger’s Pass and Blue Moon.  Both were pristinely groomed, and a pleasure to ski.  IMG_1949PCSC Trail Map.jpg
