Have you heard of Nature Deficit Disorder? It’s a term coined by Richard Louv, in his book Last Child in the Woods, as a description of the human costs of alienation from the natural world. Mosswood could be your antidote to NDD. If you’re looking to reconnect your kids to the natural world, set them loose to explore our 40 acres, or even better, join them in the adventure. Follow a deer trail. Decipher animal tracks. Hike up the creek bed if dry, or with rubber boots if the water’s running. Sit silently in the treehouse, halfway down Acorn Alley, and try to spot some wildlife. Build a dam in the creek. Watch the bird feeder for different visitors.
If your goal is to reconnect and have some down-time with your crew, there are plenty of family-building activities: have a sauna then roll in the snow, play one of the many top-notch board games on the shelf, utilize the fire pit for meal-making, marshmallow roasting, or
late-night bonding, try cross country skiing, snowshoeing, or mountain biking, hike over to the Birch trails and see if you can find the abandoned Draft Dodger’s cabin, say hi to the horses pasturing up the road.
Hello. What a lovely getaway you have posted. My small family would love to rent it. Please message me if you are still renting it out. We like to cycle, so we were thinking of checking out Stephenfield and Birch for a few days.
